I love my hair!!

My hair has been absolutely hiddeous for the past two weeks. So I finally made an appointment with my hairdresser for today and got it fixed. I wanted to go darker for sure, but wasnt sure if it would work with my skin color. So she mixed like chocolate (or something) with a dark red and went to work. Once the dye was all washed out she cut all the dead gross stuff off- about 2 inches of hair! Im sad, but my hair looks sooo much better with the cut. Once she was done straightening it (oh I love straight hair) I saw my eyebrows- ew. So we waxed them too! Pretty much the day was a success!

I never thought he could break me apart

so our hands will be warm again, but all I want is not to need you now.
On the way home, this car hears my confessions.I think tonight I'll take the long way.
You expect me to apologize for things that you've done wrong. While you're inciting others. You're owning up to nothing and I wish that I was gone, because you're not going anywhere.
I've got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud. This is how I doWhen I think about you. I never thought that you could break me apart. I keep a sinister smile and a hold of my heart. You want to get inside. Then you can get in line. But not this time...

part time lover, full time friend.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Suprisingly enough, today wasnt a total bust. In contrast it was quite enjoyable. It started at midnight when my friend came over and we watched The Jane Austin Book Club. Inticing me even more to read her books (I watch the movies and call it good). Im a severe fan of Kira Knightly's Pride and Prejudice - basically Mr. Darcy (or the guy who plays him)... okay, words really cant explain. Anyway, so around 2 I went to bed, but decided (stupidly) to continue re-reading Twilight, for the 3rd time. I've always loved Edward, but this time around I've realized I love Bella and Edwards relationship more than Edward. Dont get me wrong, hes gorgeou and has really amiable qualities, Im just too strong-willed and independent for a guy like Edward, I guess thats my tragic flaw... anyway, I didnt get to bed till 3 or 4 (I really dont remember) and then I was asked to sub at the elementary school at 6:20, so I didnt get much sleep.

Besides my sleep deprivation, today went extremely well - quite possible the best valentines day ever. The kids were good, noisy, a little rambunctious, but good. We had their valentines day party and they were so sweet. Basically, Im their favorite sub and they want me to come back lots (which is awesome!) making my valentines day full of love! I chewed gum all day- pretty hardcore at that and so after taking a 3 hour nap I had this raging headache. My dad brought me some IB-profen (more love!) and I feel great now. I should just finish Twilight, but wheres the fun in that!? I cant decide if I want to read New Moon... its rather depressing (since 3/4 is based off of my own pathetic love-life) so I think sub-conciously Im putting off finishing the 1st book as much as possible... its either Twilight or surf the net somemore hence the constant coming back to topic.

Mom, Dad, and Spencer are going to SLC tomorrow. Not that I dont love my family, but Im really tired of driving down and driving back within a few days or day. So, Im not going this time. I had been planning on it, but since the entire Grandpas birthday party went down the tube I made plans with Whitney Landon, a friend who was driving up from Provo for the weekend before I knew they were still going. Im rather excited. We have plans that Im totally looking forward too, and it'll be nice to spend sometime with a couple of my high school friends and to make new memories. I'll try to get some pictures up. Also, I do enjoy the house to myself. I've become more of a loner in my old age.. :) sorry couldnt resist. Honestly though, I find comfort in the easy listening of Colby Caillet and my own thoughts. No TV blaring, no continual questions about my day or what my plans are, just me, alone with my thoughts...

I really miss Adam, Pat, Jess and Brayden though. Thats the one draw-back with not going. Until last year (and of course the exception of missions) we've all been in an hour traveleing distance and we could see eachother regularly. Now that its more like 2 or 3 hours and gas is retarded its really hard. Im probably preaching to the choir here, but its an adjustment I wasnt expecting so soon.

hair...

So, Ive been wanting to do something with my hair for quite some time, just havent known what to do. But I came to a conclusion that I wanted a texturized perm aka a volume perm. I drove up to rexburg and went to one of the beauty schools. I sat down and the teacher said to grab a really little rod because it will "relax" because of my color on it. I decided not to fight too much because well, they "know" what they're doing. HA! I just wanted my hair to have some curl. It took 4 hours to roll it... thankfully my friend Janae was there to keep me company. When they took it out... I have never cried over my hair before until Friday. It was horrible. Its curly like a freaking poodle dog. I hate it. They said that it'll relax and just to deal with it for a little bit. Yeah, except the relaxed version still isnt what I wanted. So I went to my friends house and washed it and straightened it. Basically the ends are fryed, but I have noticed a slight relaxing in it, therefore its worth it.

My friend Michael from Arizona that I met in Reno flew up to Rexburg to visit Janae and so I stuck around a couple more hours to see him. By the time we finally went to Jamba (Janae and I craved it the entire time in Reno, and Michae had never had one, so we converted him!) the freeway was closed for the night because of the snow drifts and ice. I could have taken the old highway, but why not chill in rexburg for the night?! I went over to Janaes FHE bro-ha's apartment who was a friend of mine last semester - Austin. I sure have missed that kid... It was great fun.

This morning we had orange pancakes.. DELICIOUS! Then I drove home to take a nap! Mostly, a good day. :)

Glenn Beck!

On Thursday (January 31) I went up to Rexburg for a College Republican (CR) meeting. There I found out about Glenn Beck doing a special show for BYUI on Friday before his benefit at the civic that night. I got a ticket for the BYUI show and signed up to be an usher at his benefit. The roads were bad and so I spent the night at my friends house.

We had a girls night and decided to invite our friend Ron over to join. Here's some fun pictures of it. We had the most delicious dessert - Picossi! Its like 2 inches of cookie dough that you bake and then put some ice cream on top and eat straight out of the pan- but the best part is that the bottom doesnt completely cook so its still doughy! Basically heaven with a 1,000,000,000 calories!

We debated over playing truth or dare jenga, but you need more than one boy to make it fun, so we just took a pic of it.

We exfoliated our faces! Basically, my skin has never felt better!

The next morning we went to the special BYUI showing. I stuck around like a groupie to get this pic of me and him. President Clark actually lobbied for him to come out and take a few pictures. He is such an amazing speaker. He didnt really much politics, it was more of a devotional. He talked about how we need to stay true to our values and not party lines (okay so not blatantly but thats what I got from it). Also, how we need to develop our skills/weaknesses and work them out. He used the analogy that we have our natural talents/skills like a sword. Its trusty but when we develop our weaknesses its just a slate of metal and we stick it in the fire and work it out and so on... That weakness then becomes our strength (I wonder where he got that line??) and we can rely on that now skill more than the naturally given one.

Then I went home, showered, brushed my teeth (theres a theme here...) and got ready for the benefit. Can I just say, how much easier life would be if I put my clothes away! I couldnt find a thing! Anyway, I went to the civic, the first usher there and just kind of walked around for about 2 hours before people started showing up. Then when people showed up it was crazy. We took our seats about 10 minutes after the show started and it too was incredible.

After the show we were allowed backstage and got pics and he signed my flashlight! Basically, I prize that thing. I have a picture but hotmail isnt working, I'll get it up sometime.

Campaign Trips!

I guess to start off this blog thing I should update everyone with what I've been up to! On December 31 I got on a bus down in SLC with a bunch of BYU, Utah State, and BYUI students and drove to Iowa to campaign for Mitt Romney. It was a 22 hour bus ride there because the bus broke down in Wyoming. When we got there we went straight to work. Half of us hopped in cars and did doors while the other half stayed at headquarters and made phone calls. We did this till we got our housing assignments. We stayed at members houses and it was so cool. The next couple of days we started at 9am and worked our butts off till about 8. This is my friend Jean as everyone was registering to vote.

Thursday was caucus day and so we worked till about 5 and then they rounded us up and we went to the local High Schools to observe the caucus. It was so cool to see how primitive it was. They used slips of construction paper and they wrote down the candidates name. Not even a ballot!

This trip was full of sleep deprivation, malnutrition, and an unusual guy/girl ratio; along with lack of dental hygeine- meaning- the overnights on the bus we had our toothbrushes in our bags under the bus and we couldnt use them in the mornings, I dont think Ive ever loved gum so much.

This is a picture of an Iowa senator who spoke for Romney after we won in the county with me and Janae.
We lost in Iowa, but we won in our county!! We did soo much work that the campaign was astonished. We got on the bus around 11 and made it back to SLC at 2 on Friday. I got home around 6.

--The Saturday before and after I had 2 cousins get married! And I went through the Rexburg Temple. Pretty much I LOVE the Rexburg Temple!!

I dont remember the dates... but I went to Reno for the Nevada caucus. I was a little upset that I didnt go to Vegas, but I fell in love with Reno. We did basically the same thing as Iowa, except there was only 10 of us in a van from BYUI and we only had the van- no rentals, so that made it a bit more interesting. Also, non of us had been to Reno before so we made seriously about 100 u-turns, almost getting hit about 25% of the time- it was a good time.

We had a rally with Mitt on Friday and because I made the most phone calls I was able to have special priveledges, well kinda. I basically made a speech about how we (BYUI) have and will continue to support him. We'll go where he wants us to go kind of a thing. This of course was after he hugged me (yeah, RANDOM!!) and after I grabbed his bicep - as kind of a joke I call it his "rippling bicep." Oh, I was called a high schooler yet again. Here's the link to the interview I did where he calls me a high schooler, and has a great shot of my chest... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8D9MBU1I-c

On the left is the Nevada campaigners. On the right is of Janae and I at the Rally. Behind Janae is Michael who has a kid on his shoulders with a sign that says; We are S'mitt'en - it was adorable! Then behind me is Angela. It was a good thing I went by Angie on this trip!

On Saturday it was caucus day and I went to Reno High. Wow, it was so disorganized. I was one of three girls and we got harassed and told some completely horrible things - if you want more details let me know and I'll tell you the story. But we basically became the navigators and helped people find their precinct locations, spent about an hour doing that. I got all sorts of warm fuzzie feelings for the people of Nevada doing their civic duty. Ooooh! as a sidenote- some afghanistan leaders were there observing. With all the confusion they said that it was well organized and people knew what they were doing... HAH! man they got fooled. At least no one was shot or something I guess thats what they expected.

We stayed with members again, this time we stayed with the Dyches- he was an area 70, his wife was ADORABLE, and their daughter was super cool. She painted the picture you see at Deseret Book and sorts of the soldiers praying- basically they were the coolest.

We left around 3 or something and got home at 1am Sunday morning.
This is Julia and Chad in the van.
